The ACE Centre opened its doors in September 2019 with only four kids and two staff members. In 2024, our department has 40 students and 21 staff members.
We are dedicated to providing specialised support to students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our aim is to create a warm and nurturing environment that will enable our young people to achieve their full potential through a tailored curriculum designed to meet their individual needs.
Our main goal is to equip our students with the skills and opportunities to lead independent and successful lives beyond their school years. To achieve this, we provide a combination of traditional and vocational curriculums and life skills lessons, allowing our students to progress along their individual pathways.
At the start of each academic year, we introduce a phased approach, gradually increasing the length of the school day and incorporating a more flexible timetable with regular movement and sensory breaks to help regulate emotions.
Within our recently refurbished facilities, we provide ASD specialist furniture and a wide range of sensory equipment to support the needs of our students. We work closely with parents and external agencies, such as the Autism Advisory and Intervention Service, to ensure that our students are fully supported in all aspects of their school life and beyond.
